A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since 1967 but I'll try to
reconstruct some of the events in my life since last we met.
Following graduation from WHS I attended NSU from 1967 to
1972.While I attended college at NSU, I worked 4 summers as a garbage man for
the city of Shreveport. I worked with many other guys who were3 also WHS
graduates. I graduated in 1972 with a degree in zoology. I
attended LSU Medical School in New Orleans from 1972-74. I resigned in
1974. I then attended LA Tech and worked on a degree in Science
Education. Following the completion of my coursework at La Tech I did my
student teaching at Woodlawn High School. Janet Kyzer was my supervising
teacher. She was a great mentor. Woodlawn was definitely different in 1975
from what it was in 1967. I finished in 1975 and took a job teaching science
and coaching football at Glenbrook School in Minden, LA. It was a good
private school but $6720.00 was difficult to live on. At the end of the
year I quickly joined the Air Force and was trained as a medical laboratory
specialist. I spent 4 years at Carswell AFB, Texas near Fort Worth.
There I met my wife, Catherine. We have been married 23 years and have
one son, John Michael. John is now 13 years old. In 1980 Catherine
and I left the Air Force and went to graduate school. She attended UT
Arlington in Arlington, TX where we lived. I commuted to Denton, Texas
where I attended the University of North Texas. We both completed our
degrees in 1981. During this time I worked part time as a medical
technologist at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth. In 1981 I received a
teaching fellowship at the U. of North Texas and began work on my Ph.D.
In 1983 I was hired to teach medical technology at Northeast Louisiana in
Monroe, LA. I have been there ever since. I complete my Ph.D.
degree in 1984. In 1983 I joined the USAF Reserves. I am now
a laboratory officer for the 917th Medical Squadron at Barksdale AFB.
When I first joined the Reserves I was in another unit, The 11th Contingency
Hospital Unit which was another medical unit. In 1991 our unit was
activated as part of Operation Desert Storm. We were stationed at a RAF
Base in England. The base was converted into a giant hospital to care
for wounded troops for the Gulf War. After 10 weeks on active duty we
came home.
At NLU (now ULM) I teach in the Medical Technology Department.
In 1995 I was asked to teach part time for the Biology Department after one of
the professors died two weeks into the semester. That semester (Fall) I
taught 4 Med Tech classes and 3 Parasitology classes. This was about
twice the teaching load of most of the teachers. A lot of missed sleep,
a lot of stress and no time to relax. It eventually catches up with you.
In January 1996 I had bypass surgery.
I'll try to watch my stress level in the future.
From 1992 until 1997 I worked on a history degree in history at NLU.
I graduated in 1997.
Presently, Catherine, John and I are living in Ruston, LA.
Catherine is a Social Worker for the state of Louisiana (But she doesn't want
to listen to my problems after a long day). I commute to NLU in Monroe,
thirty-five miles away. John attends public school in Ruston. He
is an inherently good kid; much better than I was at that age by far. He was
named Student of the Month at his school this year and he likes to play
soccer.
About the most fun I have had since graduating from WHS was when
I attended our class reunions and when I work on the Reunion Committee.
I cannot adequately express my appreciation to the other members of the
Reunion Committee who have spent so much time and effort on our reunions.
Jim Steward and Diane Coker, especially, have done a Herculean job on our
reunions. This web site which Jim has started is truly outstanding.
Thanks to you Jim and Diane for keeping the memory of our Special Times at WHS
alive. Kirby

Working in the school system now I was
beginning to wonder about some of the people I went to school with and grew up
with. I guess the most important thing that has happened in my life is that I
do work for the Waller ISD system as an aide in Special Ed. I've been married
to Donald Harless for 15 yrs., second marriage. First marriage I had 4 boys,
one died at the age of 12. My husband and I are vol. Chaplains in the TDCJ
Prison System here. We work with inmates, counsel them do Bible studies with
them and have a Hospitality Program, that is under our Ministry, called
Crime To Christ Ministries, Inc. We are every involved with our church and
teach 5th and 6th grade Sunday School. Thank you once again in being there and
making it so easy to find all of you again.

My life has been full. I completed two years of college, married, had 5
children and now have 11 grandchildren. The main things that I've accomplished
is raise my family and stay married to the same wonderful man for the past 32
years. Now we are living on a farm taking care of cows and loving every minute
of it. I am teaching cradle row (birth to 24 months)at church, doing crafts
and I still love to sing.

I am a self employed Political Consultant and have owned my own company for 21
years. I do public opinion polling, provide advice on strategy to candidates
for public office and produce television and radio commercials. I also provide
services for attorneys such as jury selection work. I have been divorced for
16 years and have no children. I have been business partners with John Fred
Gourrier (John Fred and the Playboys) for the past 19 years. Rock & Roll
is a great hobby and I still enjoy it very much. My other hobby is being a
cowboy in Colorado. My brother owns a 400 acre ranch outside of Durango and I
keep my horse there. We herd cattle, repair barbed wire fences and do the
whole "City Slickers" thing. My plan is to retire to that area but
on a very, very small spread. Too many acres means too much work!
