I
married a man 30 years my senior whom I met when I was 21 and he was 51.
We had a 29 year marriage and 3 children. The youngest is now a
freshman at LSU, my old Alma Mater. My son is an Air Force Academy
graduate, now a Captain up at Hanscom AFB in Boston, and my older daughter just
goes along happily working for the City of Farmers Branch TX with no particular
ambition of any sort except to pay her bills and keep smiling. There are no
grandchildren yet, but I surely look forward to them since I was a stay-at-home
mom most of my adult life, and loved it.
I entered the workforce about 10 years ago to work for the very first
super bookstore in Dallas - the Borders at Preston and Royal. I was on the
opening day staff there, which practically makes me part of history itself since
there are coffee saturated bookstores everywhere now! I trained for college
library work, but so far have only worked in school and public libraries - go
figure! I have been at a crossroads this year now that I am in my house
alone. (I don't like it.) My sister Kathy and I both recently went
back to our maiden names, and she wants me to move to Atlanta where she
is. (But, but....I've been in Dallas nearly 30 years now!)
I can do anything I want now -- and that is actually the
problem since I never dreamed I would have this particular dilemma to
face! Hmmm, let's see...I could go back to school, change careers. I
could go live in New Zealand, or the wilds of Wales. I could trek the
desert or climb the Himalayas, you name it..
I'm taking suggestions!

After graduating from La. Tech with a degree in English EDU and Library Science, I became a flight attendant for American Airlines. Based in NYC & being the first class to be certified on DC-10's & 747's, I enjoyed many cross-country "working vacations". I married Joe Calvelli in Sept. 1973 and lived in Conn. for 9 mos. before moving to Seattle where our two daughters Katie and Meg were born. In 1978 we moved to Walnut Creek Ca. Joe worked downtown San Francisco and I enjoyed being at home with the girls. In 1984 we moved to San Antonio TX and we have been here ever since. I have been a "stay ay home" mom and a Church, School, Community volunteer, everything from Brownie leader & soccer mom to choir member to PTA Officer. I worked part time for a fashion designer and columnist and then for a pre-school. For the last six years I have taught a 3 yr. old class at our Church pre-school. My Mom still lives in Shreveport and I try and get back there every year. I hope to see you all next summer.

Hi everyone!!
After leaving Woodlawn I joined my new husband in Ruston where he attended
Louisiana Tech ..Then he went on to Viet Nam leaving me and our 6 week old
daughter behind. He survived the war but our marriage did not...somewhere along
the way I discovered I had a knack for selling ..I started working flea markets
on the weekends selling my wares...and eventually opened antique stores in
Madisonville and Slidell, Louisiana while still keeping my flea market business
in the French Quarter in New Oleans.I am the President of the French Market
Vendors there...It is my job to keep our 400 plus merchants. as content as
possible. and to speak to the New Orleans City Council Members monthly ..about
our needs and progress... My daughter is all grown now with a beautiful 5 year
old of her own. My granddaughter calls me NaNa and melts my heart... I am
happily single now, fianally realize that is as it should be. Would love to hear
from all!
